Hon. Professor Jayantha Lal Ratnasekara, Governor of the Eastern Province, has declared that Muslim schools in the region will remain closed on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, in observance of Id-Ul-itar (Ramadan Festival Day). This closure follows the official holiday marking the end of Ramadan on Monday, March 31, 2025. To account for the closure, the academic schedule will be adjusted, with the missed school day rescheduled to Saturday, April 5, 2025. Meanwhile, Sinhala and Tamil schools within the Eastern Province will continue their regular operations during this period.
